  • Type of therapy

    There are many types of therapy out there. The type of therapy I practice is called “Psychodynamic” and is referred to as a “Depth Therapy”. That means I will not be telling you how to live your life, or offering suggestions all the time. I will be attentive, engaged, and open to you. I will guide and suggest sometimes, but mostly I will seek to understand you, and help you understand yourself and what you have been through in your life.

  • Prioritize "the fit"

    Research has proven that a person’s outcomes in therapy are strongly connected to the strength of their relationship with their therapist. That means you have to feel comfortable with them on some level. If you get the feeling that you don’t like the therapist you just started seeing, then it is okay to keep shopping around. My recommendation is to find a therapist you feel you can trust, and then allow yourself to relax and connect over time.

  • Healing from negative experiences with therapy

    Many people have bad experiences along the way as they try to find a therapist they connect with. One of my passions in my work is to explore and validate those experiences with my clients, and hopefully find healing through a reparative therapeutic experience.

Session location and frequency

I offer counseling and therapy services to Grand Rapids and the West Michigan area. I work primarily in-person and weekly because it allows me to connect with my patients effectively. That being said, I do try to be flexible when necessary, especially when unexpected issues pop up. I would be happy to discuss these options with you.
